Description

The Japanese name of this beautiful Kokeshi is Ryoufu which means Fresh Breeze.

This Kokeshi represents summer: note the cute Furin in her hair.

Kokeshi wears a traditional blue Yukata summer cotton kimono, still used today

in the Matsuri (Festival of the Gods), the typical spring and summer festivals Japanese.

The Kokeshi is entirely hand painted by the artist Oki Izumi.

The Artist Oki Izumi was born in 1956 in the city of Shibukawa in the prefecture of Gunma.

She has won numerous awards including:

1984: "Rookie of the Year"

1994: "Creative Kokeshi Association Award"

1997: "Tokyo Shinbun Award"

1998: "Minister of Education Award"

2013: "Forestry Agency chief Award"

She is a member of the National Association of Creative Kokeshi.
