Description

The Japanese name of this beautiful Kokeshi is Momiji, which means Maple Leaves.

This doll represents autumn: note the very pretty headband in her hair, decorated with maple leaves,

that they also adorn the light Kimono, perfectly reflecting the atmosphere and the colors of an autumn day.

The Kokeshi is entirely hand painted by the artist Oki Izumi.

The Artist Oki Izumi was born in 1956 in the city of Shibukawa in the prefecture of Gunma.

She has won numerous awards including:

1984: "Rookie of the Year"

1994: "Creative Kokeshi Association Award"

1998: "Minister of Education Award"

2013: "Forestry Agency chief Award"

She is a member of the National Association of Creative Kokeshi.
