The Japanese name of this beautiful Kokeshi is Kurisumasu which means Christmas.

This Kokeshi perfectly represents the Christmas atmosphere:

note the poinsettias, which decorate the white kimono and the headband in her hair.

The Kokeshi is entirely hand painted by the artist Oki Izumi.

The Artist Oki Izumi was born in 1956 in the city of Shibukawa in the prefecture of Gunma.

She has won numerous awards including:

1994: "Creative Kokeshi Association Award"

1998: "Minister of Education Award"

2013: "Forestry Agency chief Award"

She is a member of the National Association of Creative Kokeshi.
